End of Summer Care is needed for the Air Conditioner

When the end of summer happens, you will want to make sure you get your air conditioner inspected and is maintained properly. By doing this at the end of the cooling season, you will help make sure that your HVAC system is ready for the upcoming fall and winter as well. Besides maintaining the air conditioner, the furnace should also be inspected as well. Make sure to contact us and we can advise you when these scheduled maintenances should be done.

You will want to make sure that you check the filter regularly, no matter what time of the year it is. This will help ensure that good quality air is able to pass through the ductwork, vents, and back into your home again. If you ignore filter inspections, then the dirt and dust will clog the filter completely. This will then result in the system having to work harder because the air does not move easily through it. You will want to have an extra filter on hand, just incase you need to change it and it is a weekend or holiday.

Check the external parts of the air conditioner. You will want to remove any build up of debris, leaves, and brush from them. This will help prevent it from becoming clogged and wearing down the parts in the long run. You can also contact us and we can come and inspect it for you. We can also check the ductwork in your home to ensure that is ready for winter. Ductwork without holes or punctures will help keep the best quality air in your home moving around so you can breathe easier. Anytime you notice an issue or sound from the HVAC system, make sure to contact us as soon as you can.

High Humidity is not good for your Home

During the summer you will notice an increase in humidity in the air outside. But you may also start to notice higher humidity in the air in your home as well. This can lead to further issues in the long run if you do not try and reduce the humidity now. You may notice that the air is more difficult to breathe in. If you have allergies or asthma, the high humidity can actually make those symptoms worse. If anyone in your home is sick, make sure to have the air adjust so the humidity is low. We can also inspect the air and HVAC system for you to help ensure it is.

You will want to adjust the humidity in your home so that your furniture can stay in the best condition possible. Anything made out of wood can start to warp. Also the humidity can bring more moisture in the air, and cause mold and mildew to start growing. If your notice any odd smells, this can also be an indication of it as well. You can contact us, and we can make sure that the air in your home is in the best condition possible. If needed, we can install a whole home filtration system. This will help circulate the air and remove the humidity.  You and your family will start to notice it is more pleasant to be in for your home this summer.

Anytime you notice an issue with the HVAC system, make sure to contact us. No matter what it might be, we will always be glad to come and look at it for you. If there is an issue or damage to a part, fixing it sooner rather than later can prevent a costly repair bill.

Air Conditioning Maintenance if there is an Issue

You will always want your home to be cool and comfortable. If there is an issue with the air conditioner, you will want to have it checked immediately. While there are several things that could cause an issue, always try to notice the first signs of it. This way, you can have it repaired before it becomes an emergency situation. In the summer, it is not always guaranteed the air conditioner can be fixed on the same day. So to help avoid this situation, have a maintenance program for it so it can be inspected properly by us.

The filter is an important part for the air conditioner as well. If this becomes clogged, then the air flow has extra strain as it passes through the system. It can cause the motor and gears to wear out sooner than they should as well. Also remember to never operate the air conditioner without a filter in it. Doing so would allow dirt and dust to get into the system, causing damage in the long run. Having an extra filter on hand is important because you can change it at anytime. Some programmable thermostats will even alert you for when the filter should be changed in the system. If you are not sure the correct size, make sure to contact us.

You will also want to make sure the temperature is not set too low. If you have the house set at sixty degrees, the air conditioner can wear out faster or even freeze up. You will want to maintain a comfortable temperature that also does not make the air conditioner overwork. When you notice the set and actual temperature are different from one another, contact us. That way we can inspect the system for you.

Air Conditioner Systems History

Air Conditioner Systems History

Willis Carrier

In 1902 Willis Carrier developed something that is used in a majority of homes today, the modern air conditioning system. While he was trying to solve a problem with humidity in a printing plant, he started to experiment with different components. By trying to control the humidity, he was able to solve the issue with heat and comfort levels. This system he developed sent air through coils filled with cold water. Then it would cool the air while also removing moisture in it. This then allowed the room to be controlled for the humidity levels. By 1933, the Carrier Air Conditioning Company produced and developed one using a belt driven condenser. This also had a mechanical control and evaporator coils. It has become the typical model for air conditioners in America.

While the same fundamentals have stayed with the air conditioner, some things have changed. Advancements to the vapor compression, sensors, controls, and efficiency have all taken place. This helps the system to perform better, while also being cost efficient in the long run. Newer air conditioners also have advanced components that will help it to run better, as well as quieter when it operates. If you hear any odd noises or sounds from the system as it operates, make sure to schedule an appointment with us. We can inspect the air conditioner and various parts to ensure the efficiency of it.

Throughout the months, you can also do a visual inspection of different parts of the air conditioning system. Make sure that the thermostat is operating well. The set temperature and actual temperature should be very similar to each other. If it is not, we should inspect it for you. If there is an issue with it, the air conditioner may be working harder than it would otherwise need to.

Hot Days Means your Air Conditioner will need to work Efficiently

Hot Days Means your Air Conditioner will need to work Efficiently

During hot and humid days in the summer, you will have to rely on the air conditioner in your home. This will help your home to stay cool and comfortable in the summer. Make sure that you notice any issues or anything out of the norm with the air conditioner. If there are any issues with the air conditioner, it is always best to repair it as soon as possible. Any odd noises, odors, or things you notice should be taken seriously. By having these fixed right away, you can help prevent further issues from happening for your HVAC system as well.

Reduce the Heat

When it is hot, you will want to make sure that the cool air is able to reach each room in your home. When you notice an issue with hot or cool rooms, the ductwork may be to blame. Make sure that you inspect the ductwork so that it is free of any dirt or dust build up. When it is clogged, there will be a reduced flow of air through the ductwork and into your home. Also make sure that the vents to each room are open. Closed vents will result in rooms that are not as comfortable as you would like.

You can also check the HVAC system by making sure that the thermostat is working properly. If the actual temperature and the set temperature are significantly different, there could be an issue. Sometimes the thermostat will not be able to relay the information to the air conditioner so it works properly. If there is a misreading, then the air conditioner could be working much harder than it otherwise should. It will then cause the system to wear down quicker than it otherwise should. When this happens, you will find yourself having more frequent repairs than you otherwise should.
