Responded to service call for water heater with pilot light failure. Upon arrival, diagnosed that the pilot would not remain lit, indicating a faulty thermocouple or gas valve assembly. Due to the age and condition of the existing unit, performed complete water heater replacement. Removed old Rheem Guardian tanked water heater from basement utility room and installed new residential gas-fired water heater. Connected all supply and discharge plumbing lines, installed proper venting through existing ductwork with metallic elbow configuration, and ensured all gas connections were secure and leak-free. Tested unit operation, verified pilot ignition and burner function, and confirmed proper temperature and pressure relief valve installation. Left installation area clean with all plumbing connections properly secured.
