Responded to service call for gas-fired tanked water heater that would not remain lit and was continuously refiring. Upon inspection, discovered severely corroded inlet and outlet connections with active leaking at both connection points. Corrosion extended to internal water heater adaptors, rendering the unit unrepairable. Additionally, the gas control valve displayed a diagnostic fault code indicating pressure switch malfunction—either stuck open or closed position. Attempted to reset the pressure switch, but unit continued to experience ignition failure and would not maintain flame. Visual inspection revealed significant rust staining and mineral deposits throughout the tank exterior, with pronounced copper oxidation (green-blue corrosion) at pipe connections indicating long-term water intrusion. The 6-year-old Bradford White power vent unit was determined to be a total loss due to multiple system failures including compromised water connections, internal leak damage, and gas contro
