Radon is an invisible, odorless and tasteless gas that occurs naturally through the breakdown of Uranium inside the earth. It breaks down into harmful elements by attaching to dust particles that can enter the lungs while breathing. Once inside the lungs, the elements decay and release Alpha Radiation which can cause cell damage and lead to cancer. The U.S Surgeon General has warned the American public about the risks of breathing indoor radon as it is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, and breathing it for prolonged periods can present a significant health risk to families. Because Radon gas shows no immediate health symptoms, it is important to have your home tested.

Levels of Radon vary depending the the region of the country. Southeast Minnesota is a high Radon potential area. Approximately 50% of the homes in Southeast Minnesota tested above the E.P.A.'s action level.

Each home is unique. The 1st step is to test your home. A Radon test averages just $50.00 to $75.00. If your home's Radon test shows higher then accepted levels of Radon, K&S can provide an estimate to perform the necessary mitigation services to lower the levels to the E.P.A. recommendation.
