plumber

Knowing when to call a plumber is important when you have a home. At some time in your life, you will need to contact one. Water use is an important part of our everyday lives. It is used in toilets, sinks, baths, and showers every day. Since they are used for self-care, it is important that the water used is safe. A plumber should be called if you notice anything out of the norm with the pipes in your home.

Pipe Noises

If you hear knocking in the pipes, there is an issue. This can happen during a shower or when the sink is running. There can be several causes that could lead to knocking pipes. Sometimes it is the pressurization of the pipe after use. Loose valves in the pipe system or loose support straps are also damaging. They can cause your pipes to jerk and shift in place. Leaving the issue can result in a leak or pipes breaking free from the mountings.

Poor Water Pressure

If you turn on your tap or shower at full blast, water should steadily stream out. If you instead have low pressure, a slow drip, or no water at all, you have a problem. First make sure the shower or faucet isn’t clogged. Tying a plastic bag full of vinegar over the head of the faucet for a few hours may solve this problem. If it doesn’t, call a plumber. Low pressure can be caused by clogs in your pipes, a damaged water heater, or a bursts pipe that’s leaking behind walls.

Water Dripping

If your sink or shower continues to drip, the water pressure may be too high or spare water after you turn off your tap may not be properly draining. Another problem could be that the valve controlling the on and off setting of the taps or showerhead may be broken. This can permanently damage your plumbing if it’s left untreated. Make sure to contact us as soon as you notice this.

Water Drains Slowly

If water is draining slowly it’s often possible to fix this problem by using a pipe snake or commercially available cleaners. If those don’t work, chances are that the drainage problem is an issue with your plumbing. This could mean that there is a broken pipe or there’s pooled water in the main drain that hasn’t been properly drained. This kind of still water presents a health risk and broken pipes mean water or mold may be accumulating behind walls. If you notice an issue, make sure to contact us.
