K&S Heating and Air Conditioning opened in October of 1988 with just 8 employees. Thanks to much hard work and the support of the Rochester community, K&S has grown to employ 60 plus people. In the early days we seldom left the Rochester city limits, but now our sales and service personnel travel into northern Iowa, western Wisconsin, the southern Twin Cities, and most of south central and southeast Minnesota.
Our product mix has grown as well. Traditional furnace and air conditioning home comfort products from Lennox and Carrier is how we built the business, but now we feature geothermal, solar, heat pumps, dual fuel, in floor heat, and hybrid heat products as well. In addition, K&S offers indoor air quality testing and products, humidification and de-humidification equipment, whole home air filtration, duct cleaning, as well as radon testing and mitigation.
Our plumbing department offers traditional and tankless water heaters, water softeners, boilers, water pressure boosters, sump pumps and sump pump back up systems, replacement bathroom and kitchen fixtures, water quality testing and water leak protection.
We round out our services with our electrical department. Having our own electricians allows us to offer a one day installation for most of our home comfort products. In addition, we provide whole home generators, lighting of all types, replacement fixtures, service upgrades, and most other electrical services.

NCI
National Comfort Institute is one of the country’s top training and certification organizations. NCI started in 1992 as National Balancing Institute, a training organization aimed at helping heating and air conditioning contractors provide even comfort throughout homes and businesses using a technique called Air Balancing. This technique, previously only available for large commercial and industrial facilities, was refined to work in smaller buildings and homes.
As NCI evolved, the organization widened its scope to include a total system approach to design, installation, and service of heating and air conditioning systems. We call this approach, “Performance-Based Contracting.” These contractors are different from the average service company because they do more than simply fix or replace equipment. They also focus on maximizing the comfort, safety and energy efficiency of the systems they sell and service. |
